The basics

What is a DKP system?  DKP stands for Dragon Kill Points and we use it as a currency towards items which drop in 25-man raid content.  You earn DKP from turning up to a raid on time, spending time in a raid and for killing bosses within the current raid.  You can then spend DKP on items which may drop in the current or future raids.  We use a silent bidding style of DKP, similar to the Auction House.  People /whisper the DKP Admin with their bid towards an item and the person with the highest will win it.  The bid will then be taken away from their current DKP.  If two or more people bid the same, the loot will then need to be /rolled upon and then the DKP value will be taken away from the highest bidder.  The more you do with us, the more points you will earn to spend towards items which may drop in a raid.

Earning DKP

You will earn DKP for the following:

  • Turning up to a raid event, on time. Raid leaders will start to organize an event around 15 minutes in advance.  We expect to start killing ‘trash’ within 5 minutes of the ‘start time’. This includes water/food, potions (health/mana), performance enhancing items such as flasks, non-pvp flagged, fully repaired, standing at the meeting stone and in vent on our raid channel waiting within 5 minutes of our normal invite time.  This is called ‘On time DKP’
  • For every hour you spend in the raid, you will earn DKP.  This value is calculated from the actual raid start time.  This is known as ‘Time based DKP’
  • For every boss we successfully kill, you will earn DKP.  This is called ‘Boss Kill DKP’

As with your normal wage from your real life work your pay is always done after you have done the work and as such, your DKP will be assigned to yourself after the raid event.  You cannot spend the current raids DKP in the current raid.  This is purely for administration purposes, and to help keep our downtime within an event down to a minimum.

DKP values

We have two types of DKP.  The first is for Farmable content.  This is content we have done several times and feels ‘easy mode’ for the most part.  We then have Progression content.  Progression content are for new bosses / areas, in which we have not downed prior.  Progression DKP is higher to help ensure people will give new content a try and to make it worth while to try new content for our members.

  • On Time DKP is assigned at 5 DKP (5 DKP for Progression content)
  • Time based DKP is assigned at 4 DKP per hour (8 DKP for Progression content)
  • Boss Kill DKP is assigned at 10 DKP (20 DKP for Progression content)

Spending DKP

You can only spend DKP on items which drop from bosses/trash such as patterns, weapons and armor. When an item drops, people for whom the item is an onset item for the role they most often play in a raid will be asked for bids first. Only if no one wants the item for their onset will people for whom the item is an offset item be allowed to bid. If no Raiding Member wants the item for either onset or offset, Alts who have not been brought to the raid at the request of an officer and anyone else will be allowed to bid in an open round.  The DKP admin will then wait a period of time to ensure all bids are made and then they will announce the winner of the item and the item will be awarded.

The highest bidder will win the item. An amount equal to the second highest bid + 10 DKP will be deducted from the winner's DKP pool. If that figure is higher than the winner's bid, the winner will pay the amount they bid. If only one bid is received, the item will be awarded for 10 DKP. In the case of a tie, the amount will be the amount of the bid. The final amount will deducted from the winner's DKP. If there is a tie in bids, the DKP admin will ask the people who have tied to do a /roll and then the highest will win that item with DKP adjusted as above.  As with real money, you cannot bid more then what you currently have.

Alts

Yes, people have alts.  Some people have alts which have enough gear and skill to do a 25-man raid.  Main characters will always take priority against Alts for a raid spot unless we have no choice – such as we need another healer or a special ability like fear ward.  The DKP earned by your Alt is added to the DKP you've earned on your main, as you would have put time and effort into an encounter just like everyone else. However DKP bids by Alts will only be considered if a) the Officers asked that the Alt be brought to the raid because no Raiding Members of the same role (e.g. Healer, Tank, DPS) were available or b) the Player asked that the Alt be brought to the raid and no Main character has bid on the item. This will ensure that Main characters are geared as a priority, which is in the benefit of the guild and its progression.

Priority members and loot

We are not going to have any priority towards items whatsoever.  Everyone will have a fair chance of getting an item when it drops, even if it is a major upgrade for a core member such as a tank.  If you would like an item, be sure to bid on it.  Please note though, if you do bid on an item against someone such as a MT and you win – you may hurt progression but the DKP Admin will not be able to prevent you getting that item.  Just be fair and remember we are here to progress.

Waitlist DKP

For players who sign up but are not selected for that particular raid, there is the option of receiving Waitlist DKP. Players can nominate for Waitlist DKP if:

  • they signed up for the raid before the roster was initially selected (usually the morning of the raid)

  • they are online and ready to go at invite time

  • they whisper the DKP admin (usually Tyrill) no later than the posted invite time and say they would like to earn waitlist DKP

  • they play their main or a guilded alt for the duration of the raid (and notify the DKP admin if they move on to an alt)

  • they are ready to fill-in in the raid for the actual duration of the raid, arriving at the instance within 10 minutes of being whispered by an officer that they are needed.

Waitlist DKP is equivalent to full DKP received by members in the raid, including on-time and boss kill bonuses.

Convicted Heroes values all of its raiding members equally – those in the raid and those who are asked to sit out. Waitlist DKP ensures that no raider is disadvantaged in terms of DKP by being asked to sit out.

Being sat out of a raid is in not CH’s way of saying “you suck” or your gear is not good enough. We will always be upfront with members who are requiring coaching or advice, so please do not think you are being sat out for these reasons. The only reasons players would be sat out is when we have too many signups and we need to take a particular class over others. We will also try our best to rotate any members being sat out so this does not happen on a regular basis.

Other notes

  • You will not be able to ‘give’ DKP to another member, even if you decide to leave the guild for some reason.
  • We will not have any penalties (-50DKP!!!) for any reason.  We are here as a friendly and casual guild, and assigning penalties towards DKP will move us into more of a ‘hardcore’ guildwhich we don’t want.
  • There is no set limit on how much DKP you can earn.  The sky is the limit.
  • There is a minimum bid of 10 and no maximum you can use as your bid towards an item – whoever gets the highest wins.
  • Every current or new member to CH who is ready to raid (Gear etc) will receive a once off 10 DKP.
  • DKP values assigned to members are available via our website for everyone to see.
  • Your first bid is your final bid. You cannot adjust your bid after it has been submitted. You may however withdraw your bid before the bidding closes.
  • If you have not signed up to our DKP tracking tool, you will not earn DKP which means you will not be able to win items in any raids.
  • Please bid on stuff you want and will use, not stuff to swap or sell (which will be frowned upon).
  • We expect guild members to be honourable and considerate in their bidding for loot.
